SKYLOFT - All Season Hotel Thamrin Jakarta

Hello folks, so it's already 2015 right now. Another year had past. Let's close our 2014 chapters for good, and face 2015 with full of spirit and smile. I hope each of you have a wonderful year ahead. 

Okey sooo..by the spirit of new year, I decided to spent a glorious new year's eve party with my friends at sky loft. Sky Loft is a roof top restaurant which is located at All season Hotel Jakarta. We choose rooftop of course so that we could see all the fireworks from every single corner of Jakarta, and because Sky Loft is located at Thamrin, the center of Jakarta, so yeah it was a perfect spot for us.

We arrived at 08.00 pm and we just straight to the roof top. The concept they offered back then was a dinner buffet, and you know, it was worth it for every penny. They served many kinds of foods and drinks that we could enjoy and also there was a glass of wine for every customers

Ooh..we certaintly didn't waist our time to enjoyed all the delicious foods.

Let's talk about the foods shall we..

So, first food, they served turkey roast. 

Oh my god the turkey was perfectly cooked, the skin looked golden and brown,and the meet was moist and tender with perfect seasoning. As for the lamb chops, they cooked it nicely, it was medium rare which I liked, so when we sliced the meet, it appeared red in the middle, and that lamb chops was succulent, the meet was chewy and juicy. 

Salmooon

Well that pile of salmon really caught my eyes. I love salmon verry much, I mean, who doesn't right? That salmon was great, it had rich flavor and powerful taste. When I ate it,oh wow it literally melt in my mouth, and the best part was I could take that salmons as many as I wanted, until I just could not breath because my stomach was too full hahaa..

I'm not done yet, they served ribs too. The flavor was a bit too sweet for my taste. But the level of the cooked was good. The meet was easily to realesed from the bone, and it did taste juicy and tender. Soo, yeah I thought it wasn't so bad after all.

For me, the salmon was the champion that night. They also served clamps, lasagna, spagheti and others. As for the desserts they served cakes and pastries, but I decided not to review all of it, because you might just get bored to read it.

Ooh, well we didn't spent IDR 600.000+++ only for the foods and drinks for sure. There were a live band at there, but too bad they didn't provide a good sound system, and the bad part was that the band sang unhappy song, mellow song. I meant, whaaat??? It was new year, we celebrate it, we should hear some good musics to pumped up our spirit and energy right? But yeah, it was okey, because I still spent that night to remember with my good friends. 

And when the time showed at 12.00 am, that was the sign for all of us to blow our trumpets and saw all the magical fireworks. 2015, I think we're ready. May God bring us the excitement and joy for all this year. Once again, happy new year

UNION DELI - East Mall Grand Indonesia

Well hello there, all of you food lovers that hungry with review about the hippest place that served the best food in town. Let me say it to you out loud, it's UNION DELI!! I guess you all heard the buzzez that it's going to be a big hit.  As you know Union Deli is a branch from Union at Plaza Senayan. So you must know that, this is not just a high end brasserie where you look elegant and sophisticated while having a dessert or enjoy a tea time. No..noo..this is the place that makes your five sences tingling. From the variety of foods, the complimentary bread, main course and of course the ultimate desserts, not to mention the cocktails they served. Ah, for me Union deliver the best bar!!! I literally came to Union like four times a month or even more, just to sit at the bar, lookin the bartender's action, they have had great mixologist that always success on creating many wonderful cocktails.

But, Union Deli come with a slightly different concept. As the name "Deli" yeah they more focus on the cakes and pastries here, altough there isn't a big different on the menu it self. What makes it so different is the fact that they don't have a bar in there (too bad). Relax, they still served cocktails and mocktails for you guys. They kept the same ambiance like in Union though, the interior design draws on the style of the classic early 20th Century New York brasseries. Dark timber wall panelling, pressed metal ceilings, pictures on the wall. Well Union Deli wasn't so spacious, so that's the other reason why they don't provide a bar.

So, about the menu, first the main course. We ordered the classic pastrami and fried rice pastrami. 

          Classic Pastrami 125K-IDR

The Classic Pastrami is a pastrami sandwich, they choose whole wheat for the bread and good fatty pastrami. The pastrami was succulent. It's juicy, salty, peppery and oh..it's just melt in my mouth from the verry first bite. As for the bread it self, they made it nice and crisp. This sandwich really kick my taste bud. 

Pastrami Fried rice . Well the fried rice wasn't so bad. Although the flavour from the herbs and spices was not too strong as I expected for  "nasi goreng kampung" style. They served it with perfect sunny side up egg and the delicous pastrami. For me, the star of this dish was the nice and tender pastrami. Overall this menu was quiet good. They served a shrimp paste for a sauce to gave that lil kick.

As for the dessert. I noticed the other differences come from dessert menu. So, here they serve a Red Velvet Pie. Oh my god it's just the greatest red velvet pie I ever tasted. It's damn good. The cream cheese was delicate and creamy without made your bellyul. The pie crust was perfect, it's salty and crisp, and the red velvet had a nice texture, really moist, there's a slight taste of rhum wich I always loved about. This dessert was the champion for me.

Dear readers, one dessert was never enough when it terms to Union, so we ordered Ovomaltine pannacotta. The panacotta had a nice texture and perfect consistency, it silky smooth and firm with a gentle wobble. For the flavor, oooh it was so good, it tasted luxurious, the richness of the chocolate were perfect, and it was light. This dessert was literally melt in mouth.

After the Well that's all that I could tell about my ultimate dining experience in UNION DELI. This place is a top notch!! union Deli successed to put a smile on my face. I believe I'm not the only one customer that feels so happy and satisfy with this place. Thank you Union Deli, I will come again soon.

BREWERKZ - Senayan City

          Restaurant and Bar Brewerkz 

If you wonder where to go to spend the night, just chillin with your friends, or simply to enjoy beer on your own, well Brewerkz is one spot you can try. Brewerkz is a restaurant with a bar that serve their own beer. Yes, they brew full range of premium beer. Some of you may find Brewerkz sounds familiar, well you're not wrong, this place is actually a branch from Riverside Point Singapore. It's Located at lower ground, crystal lagoon, Senayan City Mall, South Jakarta. This place will instantly brings you to a classic american bar ambiance with a modern touch. 

The first time you step in you will see a pool table that you can use to play with your friends. After that, you can choose to seat at the sofa table or the open bar. You can gather with many friends here, even with more than 20 people, if you wanna throw an event, because this place is huge, their capacity are like for 100 guestest, oh and they also have a private dining area too. 

Well now, let's talk about the food. By the time I visited brewerkz at noon, I decided to order a seafood spaghetti. For matters of taste, I think it's quiet good. Once the food was served, I could smell the nice aroma from the seafood and it taste delicious. This dish contained with green mussels, squids, and prawns that had cooked with a good seasoning, so it become a fresh scent that made the seafood stood out. Well of course readers, if you happen to be  allergic  with seafood, I suggest you to avoide this dish. But no worries, because there are still other menus that you can order.

So, the other menu I talked about was ordered by my friend. She ordered Brewerkz Double Decker Sandwich. In my opinion, what made this sandwich taste good was the generous cut of the chicken cutlet in it, the chicken was cooked nice and tender, I could still taste the juicyness from it. But for the bread it self,emm.. I think it wasn't crispy enough as it should be. The sandwich served with french fries. There's nothing special with the french fries. It's crispy but a bit blend for my taste bud. Honestly, for me, this is an average menu. I'm a hardly to please when it comes to sandwich and burger, because it's junk food, easy to make, you can't go wrong with it, so for me, it needs that wow factor if you serve it in a restaurant kinda place. But, yeah that sandwich still suits to accompany you while having a light conversation with your friends.

About the drinks, if you are a type of person that don't drink beer or any other alcohol, there's always mocktail for you to try. 

Example, it was hot back then, so I was not in the mood to had a beer or cocktail. My friend and I choose to ordered Strawberry apple mint and blue passion. Strawbery apple mint is a mocktail with a mix of the strawberry, apple, mint leaves, lemon juice and lemon grass syrup. While the blue passion had refreshing flavour, because it contains passion fruit, blue curacao, orange juice and ginger ale.

The last dish, there's always a room for a dessert of course. Brewerkz present a chocolate lava dessert on the menu. My expectation were high on this dessert, but naaa..to bad it's just an average chocolate lava cake.  The cake was quite soft and moist, but it's too thick so that when I cut the chocolate cake, it did not melt instantly. Luckly the vanilla ice cream helped. The taste of the ice cream was soft and delicate, but I wasn't sure they made the ice cream by them self (I forgot to ask).

Well readers, that's all that I could say about my eating experience in Brewerkz. Overall this place is a good place to hangout. The foods was not so bad. I will come again some other time to try their beer. See you guys in my next review. Happy holiday folks.

Amber Chocolate Bar - Senopati Jakarta

Today's culinary business have grown sooo fast, most of all take places in capital city Jakarta. from café, restaurant until coffee shop comes with variety of innovations and creations by the owners. There are certain places in Jakarta that provide one stop culinarry business and arts, such as senopati, kemang, PIK and many more. Well now readers, I try to share my experience in one of the cafe at Senopati. Jln. Senopati is located in South Jakarta, we can find many cafes in there. One you must try is the newest and the hippest (soon to be), Amber cakes and pastries, the café located at Jln. Senopati Raya No. 61, South Jakarta.

Funny thing, is that Amber (what a cute name isn't it?) is located exactly a cross to Cacaote, and their building kinda look the same, but no worries they serve a different concept here, and I try not to compare both of them (altough is hard). So, Amber comes to present many of cakes, pastries, chocolates, all that guilty pleasure that to die for you to try it. Oh, that sweet tooth, I love the excitement of my taste bud dancing by the joy of desserts, eeemmm sounds tempting right? If you cakes and pastries lovers or simply you just looovee chocolates then you should come to the first floor of this cafe right away.

Yes dear, it's just the first floor that I was talking about. There are still second and the third floor (wich one of the thing that makes it different than cacaote). Okay, up the second floor in Amber café, you will feel the comfortable ambience, there are some chairs with sofa, and also books that neatly arranged and organized in the other side of the room to give the impression as if you were in the quiet library, for me it's a unique ambiance to enjoy the dish. Even I said before they show a library looks, it's not the same with the looks in bibliotheque.

                 Second floors

So in this second floor they deliver wine and dine concept. As for the appetizer, I ordered the Nicoise Salad, the salad served with a fresh tuna and healthy fresh vegetables. if you are tuna lovers, the menu is suitable for you to try. The tuna cooked perfectly, it looks a bit red in the inside with a nice and crispy skin in the outside, juicy of course, oh and they served it with fresh orange sauce wich made the dish so vibrant. I think the strength of this menu is on the tuna and that fresh orange sauce that makes it an interesting dish to try.

That salad was just an opening for me baby, it was lunchtime back then, so I ordered the main menu. It's chicken roast, 2 pieces of chicken served with baby corn, pineapple and curry. I think, the chicken roasted perfectly with bold marination, and the chruncy, sweet baby corn made it good. This menu was served with French fries, the french fries came with quite generous portion, it's crispy and tasty. Well you don’t need to worry not feeling full after this because the balance of carbohydrate, protein and fiber in this dish were just perfect.

As you knew Jakarta's atmosphere was cold because of the rainy weather, so I was wondering, what fits best rather than a nice cup of hot choco. So perfect, they served hot chocolate fountain from Amber's chocolate signatures. Oh my god!! it spoils my taste bud in the best way that I could imagine, the best hot chocolate I ever tasted in Indonesia. The chocolate flavor was silky, rich and smooth, the consistency was thin so it won't make your bellyful, it simply just made you want more and more. This hot chocolate was suitable to give a sense of relaxation and warm to your body. I think you will not be bored to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate accompanied by the complementary bread.

Oh last but not least the third floor. They have a roof top bar. It's open from 5 pm till 1 am, too bad because I came at 1 pm at that time so it's still close. This bar is surrounded by glasses so you could see the glimps of the night in SCBD. They  serve many mocktails, cocktails, drinks and shots, smokes are allowed of course. Comfy sofa are there for you to sit on, relax while having a chit chat with your friends. That roof top was perfect to chillin and enjoy your evening or even as a warm up before you hit the floor at the club.


Well readers, that's all my review about Amber cakes and pastries. Remember, when you come to Jln. Senopati try to stop at this place, either is only for enjoy the amazing hot choco and pastries with your lovers or friends in the first floor, or to have a business meeting with a clients in second floor, or to have fun and pleasure night in the third floor. What ever it is, Amber is definetly a one stop perfect cullinary adventure in Jakarta.
